PCTV Dinner Honors New Grads


The 2nd Annual PCTV Graduation Dinner happened on June 19th at Buca restaurant in downtown MPLS. This dinner is held to honor the high school graduation by PCTV youth producers. The grads this year are: Betsy Barta, Cynthia Beswick, Diego Fojordo, Tiara Franklin, Lora Pedersen, Claire Richards, Rose Spieler-Sandberg, Brittani Walker, Joel Waukazo. Congratulations to all the grads and thanks for your many contributions to the PCTV programs. Special thanks to the PCTV Board of Directors for sponsoring the dinner.

PCTV Film Showing at the ".edu Film Festival"

The PCTV produced film called "La Llorona" was selected from over 100 films to be shown as part of the first .edu Film Festival at the Parkway Theater in south Minneapolis. The film is based on a Mexican ghost story know as "La Llorona (The Weeping Woman) and it was made as a group project by the following PCTV youth: Ashley Clinton, Darrius Clinton, Estephanie Luis, Gustavao Luis, Daniel Coronado, and Oscar Velazquez. Congratulations filmmakers! The .edu Film Festival is on May 23rd at the Parkway Movie Theater (4814 Chicago Ave., S., MPLS). The festival is an all day event featuring films and guest speakers. "La Llorona" will be showing as part of the narrative program starting at 1 PM. The festival is free and open to all. PCTV Films Showing at Girls in the Director's Chair

Three PCTV produced films showed at the 2008 Girls in the Director's Chair Film Festival at the Walker Art Center. This fesvital is a juried selection of films made by girls and young women from all over the state of Minnesota. The festival took place this year on Saturday, March 1st in the film theater at the Walker Art Center (1750 Hennepin Avenue, MPLS). The selected PCTV films were: "Unfinished Housewife Drama Parts 1 & 2" by Bridget Collins, "It Happens" by Brandy Hyatt, and "The New Girl" by Estephanie Luis. Check the Walker Art Center website (www.walkerart.org) for the schedule. The filmmakers were invited to attend the event and participate in a Q&A with the audience.

Three PCTV films were chosen to be included in the recent Twin Cities Youth Media Network (TCYMN) Film Screening at the Walker Art Center. The screening took place on November 29 in the film theater at the Walker. The PCTV films shown were "The New Girl" by Estephanie Luis, "It Happens" by Brandy Hyatt, and "Music Box Surgery" by Bridget Collins. PCTV youth producer Sulecca Lomax-Perez was a co-curator of the screening and helped organize the event.
